Just to make sure - the characters you mentioned ( space, /,\,*,$,%,&,!,',",? * ) - are we saying these should NOT be present in the SKU and URL key fields? NOTE: when you go to catalog -> products inspect -> network and see response, preview) if you face spinner/loader first remove it and again reload product grid page. let me know if you still face this. or share also products in zip so I can check at my self.
