Since Magento 2.3.2 you need to use arguments to referenceBlock/referenceContainer, for container/block use htmlClass
<arguments>
<argument name="css_class" xsi:type="string">header links</argument>
</arguments>

You need to add translate="true" if you want translation for it.

You can Change it in Core Magento Files I figured out.
/httpdocs/vendor/magento/module-catalog/Helper/Product/ProductList.php, you can set asc or desc.
Proper way is to do it via extension/plugin.
