You need to do following things :

  1. create the events.xml file on following location.

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<config xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="urn:magento:framework:Event/etc/events.xsd">
      <event name="sales_order_place_after">
           <observer name="vendor_sales_order_place_after" instance="Vendor\Extensoin\Observer\OrderObserver" />
  1. Now create OrderObserver.php on following location.

namespace Vendor\Extension\Observer;
use Magento\Framework\Event\ObserverInterface;
class OrderObserver implements ObserverInterface
    public function execute(\Magento\Framework\Event\Observer $observer)
        $Orderdata = $observer->getEvent()->getOrder();

        //Write your logic to create Json file withh the Order information
  • how can I test if it's working please
