Having upgraded from Magento 2.2.11 > 2.3.5, I also went from PayPal Express Checkout to PayPal Payments Standard. Since then, I've been receiving regular emails from PayPal along the lines of:

Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notifications (IPN). Instant Payment Notifications sent to the following URL(s) are failing:

If you do not recognize this URL, you may be using a service provider that is using IPN on your behalf. Please contact your service provider with the above information. If this problem continues, IPNs may be disabled for your account.

  • All of the transactions are being processed OK
  • The usual transnational information is being returned
  • Order status is changing to Processing. All as expected.

Am I getting these IPN messages because Payments Standard uses a different method to obtain the information, therefore making IPN redundant? If this is the case, then I guess I can disable IPN in my PayPal account? Any information on this would be useful.
