If you see no styles, you could just verify your permissions are set properly.

cd /var/www/html/ && sudo find var generated vendor pub/static pub/media app/etc -type f -exec chmod g+w {} \; && sudo find var generated vendor pub/static pub/media app/etc -type d -exec chmod g+ws {} \; && sudo chown -R :apache . && sudo chmod u+x bin/magento

Unless I misunderstood your question, this might solve the pages rendering correctly.

  • I'm inclined to second this comment's suggestion. Check user/groups, as well as permissions match up according to the documentation for that version.

  • No,not require to less upgrade. Apr 4, 2018 at 10:29
  • Misleading advice. I run 2.2.3 with php 7.1.15, which would be a much better suggestion than an older version.
