Error in validating minimum length for text field

Question

I have used the below

<input type="text" value="" class="input-text required-entry validate-number validate-length minimum-length-4 maximum-length-8" title="Purchase Order" name="custom1" id="custom1">

For validating length the maximum-length-8 works. But minimum-length-4 not working. Somebody please let me know if you have any solution
