  • Check your database connection in app/etc/local.xml. Mar 1, 2016 at 4:48
  • did you checked db credentials? Mar 1, 2016 at 5:00
  • changed the passwords of the main user and cleared cache folder neither worked. Mar 1, 2016 at 5:32

Your local.xml file has incorrect credentials for MySQL username, password, or the database. 100% guaranteed. Either correct the local.xml file in app/etc or create/reset the credentials in MySQL. If the user exists in MySQL and you reset the password, make sure you gave the user enough privileges.

Check this link.

  • unfortunately I tried that earlier, it didn't fix the issue. The designer said that he was editing it fine until he cleared the cache. Mar 1, 2016 at 4:38
  • Try to clear all the files out of /path/to/magento/var/cache/*, as Magento caches the contents of local.xml there. Also did you move the website from another server or any thing along with this? Mar 1, 2016 at 4:48
  • No we didn't move it. it was working we are about to start making a few changes and cleared the cache and this happened. It was running fine previously. Mar 1, 2016 at 5:31
  • the users in the cpanel have all privileges for that database. Mar 1, 2016 at 5:40
  • Did it work or not? If not could you check the database server and the database it self. Also try to uncomment and comment these lines in the index.php >#if (isset($_SERVER['MAGE_IS_DEVELOPER_MODE'])) { > Mage::setIsDeveloperMode(true); >#} >//Mage::setIsDeveloperMode(true); >ini_set('display_errors', 1); Mar 1, 2016 at 6:08
