Hi am currently attempting to code my own view.phtml for my products, but the related products and upsell are not showing, why could this be ?

I just went into my catalog.xml and uncommented the line:
<block type="catalog/product_list_related" name="catalog.product.related" as="related_products" template="catalog/product/list/related.phtml" />
and it shows up in two places. the default one in rwd theme, as my custom theme is based on it, and the new place. So, do I keep this commented or un-commented also ?
