Updating to magnetoMagento 2.4.6 in a local DDEVDEV box with the standard elastic searchElasticSearch box setup.

Error during magento setup:upgrade: Could not validate a connection to the OpenSearch. No alive nodes found in your cluster

Had to run

ddev bin/magento setup:install --search-engine=elasticsearch7 --elasticsearch-host="https://m2-develop.ddev.site/" --elasticsearch-port=9201

Note: used DDEVlocal URL and port and not localhost.

Before I was able to complete upgrade via ddev bin/magento setup:upgrade
