Add new tab in product edit page in admin Magento 2

Question

I'm trying to create a custom module that will add a new tab on product edit page, right under Basic Settings. Can someone provide an answer?

The content of the tab should be loaded with AJAX or is a simple content tab? — Marius, Commented Feb 26, 2016 at 12:29

you can create you own module.
In this module, create a file called view/adminhtml/layout/catalog_product_new.xml with this content

this will add the tab right after "Product Details" tab. To re-position it, play around with the parameters from the xml file.

you can add whatever you want in there, The ajax call can return any html you need. You just need blocks and templates. — Marius, Commented Feb 27, 2016 at 16:05

I've did this by following Magento Reviews Module for Product.

                        <argument name="group_code" xsi:type="string">basic</argument> <!-- "advanced" for Advance Settings -->
                    </arguments>
                </block>
                <action method="addTab">
                    <argument name="name" xsi:type="string">product-mymodule</argument>
                    <argument name="block" xsi:type="string">product.mymodule</argument>
                </action>
            </referenceBlock>
       </body>
    </page>

Create Mymodule.php in your custom module as per given path.
